Batman’s song
Mel:
Waltzing Mathilda
(Even was 10 when the family went to spend
half a year in Melbourne in 1993-94. He picked up a few things, including a
passion for cricket.)
Once a little Norseman travelled down to Mellabourne
struggling
so hard an Australian to be.
And he
sang as he sat and waited with his wooden bat:
"Dad,
won’t you come and play cricket with me?
Play me
some cricket, try hit the wicket,
Dad, come
and play some more cricket with me."
And when
Dad fin’lly bowled, little batman eyed the ball so
cold,
wacked it
to places that noone could see.
Dad tried
to practice, spinning balls to left and right,
struggling
so hard an Australian to be,
while the
young Norseman sat and waited with his wooden bat:
"Dad,
are you ready for cricket with me?
Play some
more cricket, try hit the wicket,
Dad, come
and play some more cricket with me."
And when
Dad fin’lly bowled, little batman eyed the ball so
cold,
wacked it
to places that noone could see.
